A historically-costumed guide leads daily walks through downtown Fredericton's significant landmarks, including the Historic Garrison District, the Old Public Burial Ground, the Provincial Legislative Building, and former residences of notable local figures. The tours blend local history and folklore as you move through the city's past. Bilingual guides offer the tour in English and French. Tours depart from the Guardhouse in Barracks Square.

Kings Landing opens its doors free to New Brunswick residents during Pass to the Past week. All you need is a pass, available from your local library. It's a chance to explore the historic village and its collection of buildings and artifacts that tell the story of life in the region over the past couple of centuries.

The Fredericton Region Museum is hosting an art exhibition featuring work by its members, running through the Harvest Jazz & Blues festival period. Drop by the opening reception on August 30 at 2 pm to see what local artists have made, or visit the display anytime during the run.

6PM · A hands-on introduction to pottery for complete beginners. Over six weeks, you'll learn hand-building techniques, how to center and throw on the wheel, plus trimming, glazing, and firing, finishing with pieces you made yourself to take home. No experience needed.
Still Here: Preserving Our Legacy
🎨 galleries
Still Here brings together the stories of Black families whose presence in New Brunswick stretches back centuries. The exhibition weaves together historical documents, first-person accounts, original poetry by Thandiwe McCarthy, and photographs by Gary Weekes to explore themes of heritage, community, resilience, and identity across generations. An accompanying book of the same name, published by Goose Lane Editions, combines these elements into a single volume available through the Beaverbrook Boutique. The exhibition runs through December.

The Beaverbrook's permanent collection spans more than 7,000 works by New Brunswick, Canadian, and international artists. Running through the end of the year are three exhibitions: Jake Kimble's recent work in video, prints, self-portraits, and beadwork, exploring the body as a site of vulnerability and Indigenous experience; Document/ary, featuring 14 contemporary photographers from Atlantic Canada examining the space between documentary and document; and Still Life: So Much Depends, a survey of the genre from its practical origins through modernist experimentation.
