   Kingswood Golf

   The region's headline public golf: an 18-hole Signature Course plus a 9-hole Executive, attached to the Kingswood entertainment complex (bowling, pool, fitness). Well-conditioned, playable for most handicaps, and the closest thing to a resort experience in the area.    Fredericton Golf Club

   The old-money classic, established 1938: a mature, tree-lined 18 that plays tighter and smarter than its yardage suggests. It's a membership club — you'll need to be a member or the guest of one — and it carries the quiet prestige to match. 3. 20 min west · Public

   Mactaquac Golf

   Eighteen holes inside Mactaquac Provincial Park, wrapped in forest and headpond views — the most scenic public round in the region, and part of a park day that can also include the beach, trails and marina. Beyond the marquee three, the region's public courses give you a season's worth of variety without a membership:

• West Hills Golf — a full 18-hole, par-72 championship-style layout on the Fredericton side; a solid, honest test that anchors many locals' regular rotation.
• Riverbend Golf Club — 18 holes out toward Durham Bridge in the Nashwaak valley; a pretty, unpretentious drive-and-play.
• Gage Golf & Curling Club — 18 holes in Oromocto with military-community roots and public access; a well-kept, welcoming club a short hop downriver.

Practice, ranges and the short game

For grooving a swing rather than playing a round: Carman Creek runs a practice facility and range, several courses open their ranges to the public, and Good Guys Golf keeps a mini-putt option for the casual/family end. Disc golfers, meanwhile, have a dedicated course in the mix — an increasingly popular, free way to walk a "round" with nothing but a bag of discs. The off-season secret: simulator golf

Here's what makes Fredericton a real year-round golf town rather than a five-month one. When the courses are under snow — call it November through April — the swing moves indoors to golf simulators, and the region has two proper venues:

• Par 94 — downtown Fredericton's simulator lounge: book a bay, play world-famous courses on high-end screens, usually with food and drink on hand. The default winter league night and the reason your handicap needn't collapse over the off-season.
• The Fairway — the Oromocto-area simulator facility, serving the downriver crowd with the same play-through-winter premise.
