Almost everything city-related runs through one door: Service Fredericton, (506) 460-2020 or [email protected], at 397 Queen Street. There is no 311 line and no online report-a-problem form, that one number and email is the channel. Fredericton runs its services a little differently than a big city, and knowing the shape of it saves you a dozen phone calls. Four doors handle almost everything: Service Fredericton (the human on the phone for potholes, garbage, bylaw, water accounts), Access Fredericton at accessfredericton.ca (permits and applications online), FredRec on Amilia (recreation registration, swimming lessons, skating, camps), and Voyent Alert! (free storm and emergency notifications). Learn those four and you have the whole system.
Two quirks trip up almost every newcomer, so front-load them: there is no green-bin compost program and no curbside glass recycling, and your water bill and your property-tax bill come from two different governments, water from the City, property tax from the Province.
