Penny Blacks have built their sound from Saint John's maritime landscape—intimate vocals wrapped around churning guitar work and barroom energy. Their songwriting tends toward the reflective, taking unexpected turns as the band follows wherever the music leads. A new album due in 2026 pushes deeper into the alt-country and 70's rock territory they've been exploring since Long Lights. Tooth & the Fang is Geoff Smith's folk-rock project, built on close-up storytelling and direct lyrics. Both acts share Saint John roots and a gift for the particular.
