The first Spotlight lands the week of September 21.Every winner gets their own feature here, so the archive grows week by week.
Contest rules
  • Open to residents of New Brunswick who have reached the age of majority (19).
  • No purchase necessary. One nomination per person; duplicate nominations are counted once.
  • Nominate any independently owned business operating in the Fredericton area. Chains and franchises aren’t eligible.
  • Nominations close Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Atlantic.
  • A shortlist of the most-nominated businesses goes to a public vote; Hey Freddy makes the final selection.
  • The nominator of the winning business is drawn at random from all eligible nominations for that business, and must correctly answer a time-limited skill-testing question to claim the prize.
  • Prize: a gift card to the winning business for the nominator, and a Weekly Spotlight feature for the business. No cash value; not transferable.
  • Hey Freddy team members and their immediate families aren’t eligible.
  • By nominating, you agree we may quote your reason (first name only) in the Spotlight.
